Michigan Tech Nominates Amanda Taylor of Romeo for Goldwater Scholarship

2012 Jan 27

Michigan Technological University has nominated Amanda Taylor, a Romeo resident and graduate of Romeo High School, for a 2012 Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.

Goldwater Scholarships are among the most prestigious awards available for US undergraduates in science and engineering. Recipients receive up to $7,500 to cover eligible expenses for undergraduate tuition, fees, books, and room and board. Students submit research proposals as part of the application process.

A junior majoring in chemical engineering, she aims to design a process for converting cardboard into ready-to-use gasoline. Such a sustainable process could lessen dependence on fossil fuels.

Taylor is the daughter of Robert and Laurie Taylor of Romeo.
